Officials from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis have apologized to fans after the stadium's retractable roof remained closed during the Colts' 16-10 win against the Miami Dolphins.Ā
"Although the window was open, weĀ are disappointed that we were not able to haveĀ the roof open,Ā and we apologize to the fans," said Monica Whitfield Brase, public information and marketing manager for the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium, in an open email to the public.Ā
According to the Indianapolis Star, theĀ roof remained closed Sunday due to a communication software glitch, and "officials are working with the stadium's maintenance vendor toĀ address it and determine whether there are otherĀ issues," said Brase.
The glitch follows a similar incident back in August when the roof remained closed during a preseason opener against the Denver Broncos. The issue at that time was related to the system's input/output components.Ā
Tuesday, Brase said a system upgrade for roofĀ operation is scheduled for January, "which should allow us to avoid these types of issues in the future."
